She was perfect in her imperfection.

She looked out the window and remembered.
Of a time with no distance
Immortal.
Seduced by Time, who said,
“I will pull all stops for you -baby.”
But it was a lie.
Time and tide stopped for no man- or dame.

Her form was perfection,
No strand run from her tight bun,
No wind or hailstorm threw her off.
She was a picture on still-
Mounted in glass,
Cast in class,
No mistakes-
Perfection.

A goddess for all to behold,
Except that,
She too knew-
That it was a lie.

Little by little the glass cracked
Revealing fears, hurts, and longings
No force could keep her together
She knew something was amiss
Slumped on the floor,
She unraveled.

Broken and flawed
Ugly crying on the floor
Tears and mascara flowed
The rivers threatened unrestrained
Of childhood traumas and winding roads
Time beguiled her
And said distance would help

Yes, time faded out memories,
But could not erase traumas,
So she wove them together,
the good, the bad- the ugly
And wrought them with gold

The mending was excruciating
She took off in 7 directions,
But none she could outrun
For she runs from herself.

She stopped and looked,
Like really looked,
At her reflection,
Beauty
Strength
Resilence
Joy
And faith
Her eyes were now opened.

Entwined were fragments of pain joined with joy
Pieces of grief infused with cheer
Depth and shallowness walked side by side
She had conquered her fate and outsmarted her foe
She was Everything at once.
A Masterpiece
She was Kintsugi.
