Life Like a Flower
Poetry
life — a rose that smells sweet
a garden of flowers with rising
odorous perfumes
dissipating the noise of cars
coming down the street
relinquishing the sound of hammering
nails and the buzzing of drills
and saws
a lightness in your step and day
warm sun
soft grass
a haven
a wondrous step into nature’s
paradise
a mist of flavored moisture
descending as sprinkled rain
downpours of windswept trees
their scents posturing on rooftops
and bushes absorbing their fresh
aroma
all these are partakers of life’s
essence
a colorful portrait that redeems
our faded emotions
enveloped by a sisterhood of
caring and a brotherhood of
supporting leaves and branches
that deliver their presence
per one step out the door
