A prose for sadness

Slowly noticed how I started missing sadness
like a loyal friend that comforts
or a shade I would pull when the light is too much
It’s a comfortable feeling I would always reach out to

I missed it when I started waking up in softness, rather than heaviness
when my heart is tender in love rather than in pain and numb
or when my mind is in stillness instead of the screaming voices
when my breath comes gently rather than gasps and sobs

I understand now why its easier to be sad
for when it’s the only thing you’ve known
you mistake it as a home

I write at Her Sea Waves, a curation of my poetry works.
