My heart wanted you with all of its might
Where on bad days, I would hold you so tight
To make those teary eyes shine pretty bright
Because for me, you were my life, power, & light
But you seemed so far while you were just in sight
With you, the day started to feel like a gloomy night
I would sob, and beg, and try to make it alright
It took me long to understand that wasn’t our fight
In our ocean of love, you were running shallow
But me, very deep.
