On the same boat

Tonight, I travel your body
the same way ancient sailors
onboard borrowed wooden vessels
that floated like toothpicks
through the unthinkable glass –
half-filled, not-half empty
of bodies we call oceans –
to be your naked anchored hull

and if I assume your eyes to be stars,
then your thighs are constellations
leading me to your inner darkness
where you harbor the gifts of your ancestors
and hopefully, both of our bodies to arrive,
together, at that same port of destination.
