One More Step
A poem
If you’ve stopped because you don’t know where to place your feet, then
you’re in good company.
If the skies don’t seem green enough,
then pause and look at the trees.
For white, look at my teeth,
for warmth, twist your thumb in your cheeks.
When nature is not enough,
skip with me, I’ll show you
how little everything is,
and big.
And when you feel overwhelmed, pause and look at
how the clouds are playing fiddle with the wind.
Take a few more steps
and
be drenched by nature’s
itch for desire,
and grate lust with grit.
Take a few more steps; if you’re lost, don’t fret.
I’ve been there.
Take one foot, then the next,
A bridging of will and wit,
to your desired home.
