she is root-bound yet blossoming
despite the cracks,
a flower defiant
of confinement’s hopeless hollow,
unfurling in shades of bravery
from coal’s alley.
she sprouts, undeterred
by boundaries meant to restrict
her petals stretch, persistent,
finding slivers of sunlight’s warmth
between the shuttered crevices of doubt.
she blooms,
releasing her perfumed resilience
to any unbelieving witness
who dares to underestimate
the power of life that emerges.
despite all obstacles
in its pursuit
of beauty and truth,
unafraid to push through.
