That Day
That day arrived on the wings of angels

Chiseled by the sawtooth mountain range
Crystal blue skies shimmered
And, clouds formed majestic wings
Gabriel’s, I was convinced

That day
That day I knew that that night, I
Would get to hold you in my arms
For the very first time

No way — They said — It’s not your time!

But, I knew better
And then I did
And all felt right

New life, flesh and soul
Out of my darkness, you arrived
My life’s new charter and guiding light

My shining knight
Everlasting hope
New world to live by

Pulling you to me with all my gentle and elated might
The first words I whispered through your ear into your heart —
Welcome to this world my darling
I shall love you forever
I’m your mom

Thanks to iPoetry for honoring my poem/photo in your lovely publication. And to all readers, thank you for pausing for a short while over this poem and for your kind support.
