Walking with the Patriarchy
Poetry
They turned their back,
Blinded hearts.
Forgive,
A woman forgotten,
marginalised in her symptom.
My brother is missing,
stuck in toxic masculinity’s blame.
Victim of a nation walking on the side
of a patriarchal tradition.
Strong woman they proclaim,
sacrificed, grandmother’s name.
Victimhood isn’t granted,
Honesty’s pain, heavily planted.
For a child’s good and grace,
She hid every crime’s trace,
The man’s role embraced,
While growing in silence’s space,
seeking for help seems a disgrace.
Love and hate for a town
unable to fix its failing culture.
Biases,
Blinding people’s eyes
while walking on the side of a patriarchal state.
