Word!

A poem

Word on the street is that
There’s a new word in town.
Nobody’s heard the word, but
Everybody’s heard about the word.

Word of the word came about
One day amidst the absurd
And ludicrous movements
Of the proverbial herd

Well, that’s what we heard.
And word says that the word
Was delivered by a little bird—
A little bird that overheard the word

And apparently the word
Was heard ever so clearly
By that curious little bird
That it remembered the very word

And we wonder what kind of bird
It was that told us about the word
Perhaps it was a songbird, a lovebird, or a password?
Let’s just hope it wasn’t the other kind of bird!

Otherwise word on the street
About the new word in town
Will be a tittle-tattle of a word
That nobody’s heard

An absolutely absurd word
Conjured in the mind
Of a fibbing little
Lyrebird!
