Your Love Made a Beggar Out Of Me
a love poem
Your love made a beggar out of me
chewed me up and spit me out,
just to see
a woman like me on my knees
Your love made a beggar out of me
brought me to my knees
with true love,
you would tease
i came here with a broken heart
to give to you entrusted to mend
but you trampled my heart with tramps and stamps
and left it in pieces in a blender:
my heart i will miss
like tender moments we used to kiss
until i sew it back up
The Velveteen Rabbit
because that’s how i was raised
to love anyway,
god damnit
the thing is the more i begged
the less you gave
until i became nothing
just a speck of dust
like the short story i wrote
in grade 6
about a girl
in grade 6
who felt invisible
because men eat women like us
and devour them to feed their insatiable ego.
