Your Own Venom

Even the snake may lay in your arms
without hurting you
But what does it take from you, my child?
For the snake to not bite you

At times there will be no sign of hurt
No energy of hurtfulness or its willingness to attack
And almost no memory of it
But what does it take from you, my child?

To forget it
To not see it
To not feel it
The hurt in your heart

Sometimes the only sign is what it takes from you
How you have to behave for the snake to not bite
The way you have to push down yourself
For there to not be any sign

And for a moment you forget the memories
Because there is no sign
And you forget for a moment
That there is also no warning, there never is

Before it strikes again

What does it take from you, my child?
And how do you feel about what is lost in you?

I want you to be happy
I want you to remember
Remember yourself before this

When was the last time you could be yourself?
