In November 2023, IQ Protocol was proud to announce the launch of our $IQT token.

Since the token’s launch, it has become available on both the ETH and Polygon blockchains. As a token holder, it is important to know not only that bridging your $IQT between chains is possible, but also that it is easy!

In this post, we are going to walk you through the process of bridging your $IQT tokens from ETH to Polygon. (The same steps work the other way around as well, from Polygon to ETH.)

For a guide to purchasing the token, be sure to read our IQT Token Guide!

Note: We’ll be using dePort to bridge the tokens. If you’re already familiar with the bridging steps, and are only looking for the link to the bridge, you can find it here.

Initial Details ✔️

✔️First, before we begin with the step-by-step process, here are the token contracts for $IQT on the respective chains.

$IQT on ETH: 0x6dda263994aab33f5ed612294e26f2a13df0da05

$IQT on Polygon: 0x41084fDc569099d9E527ccf126e12d9C7c688ec3

Be sure to always double check that you’re using the correct token contract when buying $IQT, especially on DEXs.

✔️Second, have your $IQT in your Metamask wallet, as this guide assumes you’re on a PC/MAC and that you’ve already installed the metamask extension for your browser.

✔️Third, during the creation of this guide we encountered troubles approving transactions using Brave, so we recommend using Chrome.

✔️Fourth, in addition to your $IQT, make sure you have some ETH in order to pay the transaction’s gas fees

✔️Fifth, once you’re bridged to Polygon, you will need $MATIC to pay the gas fees

👣 First steps

If you’ve never used Polygon on your wallet, make sure you add it to your list of networks.

To allow Metamask to display your tokens held on Polygon:

  1. Click the Options button (the three dots).
  2. Click the Settings option.
  3. Click Networks.
  4. And add Polygon as a network.

If Polygon doesn’t automatically show up, you can click “add network” and fill in the following details:

Then, click “Save.”

Using the Bridge

To begin bridging your $IQT, use this link which will take you to dePort.

Alternatively, you can always find the link on your dashboard at https://v2market.iq.space/profile/iqt-dashboard.

Once you’re at dePort, you should find a screen that looks like this:

**Please note the guide below shows tokens moving from ETH to Polygon, to move from Polygon to ETH. In case you’re interested in bridging the other way around — from Polygon to ETH — you can follow these same steps, with just a small difference. As we noted at the beginning, you can just begin on Polygon via dePort and transfer to ETH. It will look like this:

Note: To successfully make this transaction, you’ll need to have MATIC (rather than ETH) to pay the gas fee in your Metamask account.

Now let’s continue on with our guide…

Click the big green “Connect wallet” button.

You will then be prompted to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. You will also need to choose the wallet you are using. Again, in this guide we are assuming you are using Metamask.

Next, you will be asked to choose the wallet-account that you wish to connect.

Once you selected the account and clicked “Next” you will be prompted to “Connect”.

After that, your balance will appear on the dePort page.

For this transaction, we’ve chosen to bridge our entire balance, which on this account is 200 $IQT.

Now, before you can successfully bridge your tokens, you first must approve the use of $IQT tokens on the dePort site. To do this, click the large green “Approve” button.

Doing so will take you to a screen that looks like this:

You can choose to permanently approve the site for the use of this token, for this time only, or you can customize your decision. Below, we’ve chosen “this time only.”

After making your decision, click “Approve”.

Metamask will bring you this screen:

Click “Next.”

You will then be able to “Approve” via your Metamask account. Like so:

Click “Approve”.

Now that you’ve allowed dePort to use your $IQT, you can make your transfer from ETH to Polygon.

The same screen that you saw before will show up, only this time you will have the option to “Confirm Transfer”.

A part of bridging your tokens includes paying the gas fees on dePort. You are free to vary the amount of gas you will pay. However, to ensure success, we’ve chosen to click the “recommended” button.

Once you’ve set the gas to your liking, click “Confirm Transfer”.

Doing so will lead you to this page:

As before, this page gives you options regarding the fees. You are free to set them to your preferences. We’ve chosen to stick with the recommended settings for this guide.

Clicking “Confirm Transfer” here will lead you to your Metamask wallet:

Like before, set the gas fees as you see fit.

Click “Confirm” in order to finalize the transfer!

The transaction may take up to several minutes — or, depending on the busyness of the network and the amount of gas you chose — even longer.

But no need to worry! You can find the progress of your transaction on the bottom of the original dePort page, where it tracks the block confirmations of your transaction:

🎈Congrats!🎈

You’ve now successfully bridged your $IQT from ETH to Polygon.
