On Saturday, 11 December 2021, a storm system moved east across the United States. By the time I noticed the weather radar on Saturday morning, it was a long north-south line, heading my way. I went out on my bicycle without breakfast, so that I could get home before the rain started. It was 70F then. And very windy. This morning (12/12), it’s 32F and clear.

Rain from my porch

The storm spawned tornadoes in Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tennessee, the worst of which nearly flattened the town of Mayfield, Kentucky. Fox News story

By the time the rain started here in Knoxville, Tennessee, around 10:30, it was noticeable, from inside, but not damaging. Here’s a 13-second video from my front porch, taken at 10:28am.

Wunderground has a “Yesterday’s Radar Loop” section, from which I took this video of the storm going east. “TYS” is McGee Tyson Airport in Alcoa, TN, just south of Knoxville. I found it by googling “TYS airport”.
