Peter Mantle, the man who set up the modern-day Delphi Lodge fishery in Connemara is the latest guest on the Ireland on the Fly podcast.

It’s a fascinating interview with Mantle who tells me how what began as an idea to ‘own a bit of salmon fishing’ ended up taking over his life, selling his flat in London and moving over for a new life.

From UDM to terrorists, protesters to gold mines, the years of his Delphi dream were anything but plain-sailing but despite it all he re-invigorated this most iconic of Irish salmon fisheries.

This is his story.

Ireland on the Fly is the podcast about the people and places of fly fishing in Ireland.
