First Salmon for Delphi, Lough Currane & River Drowes

A barren January has given way to spring salmon making a welcome appearance at fisheries from the north to the west and south of the country.

The Blackwater has already been featured with fresh salmon caught at Careysville and Blackwater Salmon Fishery while the Drowes in Donegal broke its duck earlier in the week with this 8lber on worm:

Kerry’s Lough Currane followed suit with local gillie Dominic McGillicuddy catching a 9 lbs salmon trolling along the North Shore.

And Delphi in Connemara opened its account with Bob Hadden catching an 8lber, on a cold, bright, sunny February day. The fish took a Cascade Conehead fished on a floating line.
