Plenty of activity for start of the season on Corrib and Mask

With Loughs Corrib and Mask opening their seasons on February 15th, trout anglers could finally dust down the boat rods and wet flies to chase after some wild brownies.

The opening days on the loughs didn’t disappoint the numerous anglers who ventured out either.

Fishing the shallows in low-water levels worked well on Mask with fish to 3lbs caught on wet flies.

Corrib also had mild weather conditions to encourage both the anglers and the trout.

Out of Oughterard, fish to 10lbs were caught while Cornamona also saw decent action with fish to 4lbs.

Here’s to a productive 2017 season on the Irish loughs and for more Irish and international visitors to fish and to visit the surrounding towns and villages for the finest wild brown trout fishing in Europe.
