IRISnet Mainnet 1.1 Successfully Upgraded Within Around 40 Minutes
IRISnet has successfully upgraded to mainnet 1.1 on March 31 within around 40 minutes. This IRISnet mainnet 1.1 has been live and can give stronger support to applications.
The IRISnet mainnet 1.1 upgrade proposal of “SoftwareUpgrade” was submitted on March 26, including specific information about the new software version, upgrade time, upgrade steps and other details. After 5 days of community voting, the result has come out on 2021–03–31 13:32:21 UTC, which is “Passed”. The participation of this voting is 60.30%, among which 99.99% are “Yes”.
As the proposal planned, the node software halted on 2021–03–31 14:00 UTC, and the upgrade process officially started. Within only 40 minutes, more than 67% of validator nodes complete the upgrade work and start running, which means IRIS Hub 1.1 mainnet successfully upgraded!
The upgraded IRIS Hub 1.1 optimized Hash Lock feature and integrated fixed Cosmos SDK, providing better support to applications:
Upgrade Hash Lock Feature
The original HTLC module is upgraded to optimize the interchain Hash Lock transfer feature, further supporting the asset cross-chain transfer between IRIS Hub and other blockchain networks like Binance Chain. The upgraded IRIS Hub 1.1 equipped multiple interchain transfer methods including IBC, Hash Lock, Gateway, and so on.
Fix a Security Vulnerability of Cosmos SDK
The core development team behind IRISnet, Bianjie, found and reported an underlying security vulnerability of Cosmos SDK. This is a bug that can trigger the security issue of features including IBC cross-chain transfer. To fix the bug, Bianjie team provided a corresponding solution. At present, the Cosmos SDK v0.42.3 containing the security bug fix has been released. Accordingly, irishub v1.1.0 has integrated this Cosmos SDK version to keep the security for the IRISnet mainnet 1.1.
