The Irisnet is named after the Greek goddess Iris, said to be the personification of the rainbow and the faithful messenger between heaven and humanity. IRIS network aims to build the foundation which facilitates construction of distributed business applications. It goes beyond today’s blockchain systems which are mainly for digitalized assets.
In this month, Irisnet have released our latest testnet:Pangu. You can read more about Pangu in this Post:IRIS Testnet v1.0 Release: Codename Pangu. You can access all the function through Rainbow: the light-client wallet designed for IRIS hub.
You will be able to send transactions through Rainbow to the network and use IRISPLORER to check the status of their transactions and experience the process of become a validator in a PoS blockchain.
The journey so far
Light-client is one of key innovations in Tendermint. The instant finality of Tendermint consensus gives a light client all the security of a full node with minimal bandwidth requirements. Light client protocol is so secure we can use it as the basis of Cosmos IBC. More info in this blog.
The design of Rainbow is inspired by the concept of light-client protocol. Rainbow is free from downloading the block headers all the time. It only has to check the validator set to verify certain block. In this way, even when Rainbow gets online again after disconnecting for a long time, it has only to do a minimal amount of work in order to securely update its validator set. Compared with Ethereum’s Light-client protocol, Tendermint’s light-client is much more efficient, especially facing a large throughput.
Interblockchain Communication protocol, IBC is the key solution to interoperability. The support of IBC in light client is amazing. And the users of Rainbow will benefit all the convenience of IBC.
How to use Rainbow?
First, Get Some IRIS
Rainbow is connected to an IRIS faucet. You could get 10 IRIS from faucet. To help keep the faucet running for a long time, you are welcomed to give IRIS back after testing.
Send Tokens Around
Afterwards, feel free to send IRIS around. All the transaction logs are available and there’s also a filter for you.
Become a delegator
You will see the status of all 7 validators. They have similar voting powers from the begining. After delegating some IRIS to a validator, you will become a delegator in Pangu blockchain. Please notice that after delegation, you balance will reduce the corresponding amount. It will increase the same amount if you undelegate.
Please note that Rainbow is the alpha version of our light-client wallet and we will be continuously releasing new versions every two weeks. The improvement will be on following aspects:
- Improvement of UI design
- Stability of the wallet
- Streamlining the staking process
The security of wallet is key and we will do our best to keep user’s asset safe. The next version of wallet will enhance UI design and improve its performance on high-throughput. The support of English will be better.
As most of our community knows, Irisnet introduce a service-oriented infrastructure into Cosmos ecosystem and make services interoperable across blockchains. In the future, you will be able to transfer tokens, NFTs, call smart contracts& services by Rainbow.
