To help the community members learn more about the validators on IRISnet, we are publishing a series of articles, each of which will cover two validators.

中文版本请见:IRISnet验证人介绍第9期 | Castlenode & Inchain.Works

When choosing a validator to delegate, technical parameters such as self-bonded (the higher the better), uptime (the higher the better), commission rate (the lower the better), bond height(the lower the better)etc are good KPIs to review to get a 360-degree view on the validators’ performance. It is always a good practice to select multiple validators to hedge the delegation risk.

Following information can be found on IRISnet explorers including IRISplorer, IRISnet-Overview, Big-Dipper, IRISnet-P2P, Hubble.

These are the data on June 12.

Here come the stories on Castlenode and Inchain.Works.

Castlenode

What is Castlenode?

Castlenode is an infrastructure provider for public Proof-of-Stake blockchain network based in France. We focus primarily on blockchains in the Cosmos ecosystem.

Our team has been involved in IRIS since the beginning, and we have successfully a validator-node on the network with perfect uptime since genesis.

Why Delegate to Castlenode?

Team
The Castlenode team is comprised of highly experienced individuals, led by:

  • Gautier Marin: Gautier has helped bootstrap the Cosmos project and is still working for Tendermint as a Developer Relations Engineer. He is also involved in the French blockchain community and co-founded Asseth, the biggest French Ethereum association.
  • Antony Girault: Antony is a veteran engineer with a vast experience in managing complex infrastructures and securing high-value systems. He has been CTO/CIO of many companies, including Overblog and Teads. He also worked at HSBC Security as a security and system architect.

Track Record
We ranked top 5 in Cosmos’ and Terra’s incentivised testnets (cf https://medium.com/@castlenode/a-retrospective-on-game-of-stakes-44ab8bd90659). We run our nodes with perfect uptime, and we have strong internal procedures to quickly resolve issues if they occur.

Before running validator nodes, our team operated highly secure and available infrastructure for major banks and web platforms, with more than 99.98% uptime over the past 5 years.

Setup
We run a state-of-the-art infrastructure for all the networks we support. We do not compromise the security of our setup for the sake of running on more blockchains. You can get a full picture of our setup here https://www.castlenode.com/infrastructure 1.

Commission
We intend to keep our commission as low as possible without compromising the quality of our infrastructure. In all the networks we run, our commission is lower than the average.

Inchain.Works

Who Are We?

Inchain.Works is operating out of Istanbul, Turkey. Behind InchainWorks is a team with 8+ years of professional experience in IT. We have been contributing these last years extensively in the blockchain scene in various (DPOS/POS) projects through running testnets, full nodes, as well as developing blockchain tools (monitoring, auto-balancing ….) and maintaining a blog in french about the projects we are working with. This whole journey has helped our team acquire a considerable amount of knowledge on the field. Those knowledges we acquired, are now being used by us in order to ensure the nodes we manage are maintained and operated in the best achievable conditions. In fact, part of our operations now consists on operating, maintaining and securing ‘validation’ nodes for DPOS and POS blockchain networks as well as providing staking services and maintaining a blog in french. We currently run nodes on Polkadot, Joystream, ethereum 2.0 and Nucypher testnet, and are active in PIVX, Syndicate and IRISnet mainnet.

Why Stake With Us?

We understand that the value of any network relies on the security of each of the nodes that compose it. We do also understand that compromising one node means compromising the whole network. In fact, any component of the network should be able to protect itself from an ever-expanding list of intrusions and attacks. That is why our team constantly strives to achieve the highest possible security standards for the nodes we maintain and operate. Our experience in node hosting have allowed us to set up a node’s security best practice which is constantly updated and upgraded and that is applied to any of the nodes we set up. We also have our own monitoring software that notifies us whenever there is a problem with the node. Besides that, we also make use of monitoring software provided by the trusted validators.

We offer a hybrid approach to infrastructure which consists of having multiple public clouds from different providers, while taking into account redundancy as well as uptime through setting up two backup nodes for each node we operate; that will take over in case the main one is malfunctioning. Moreover, in order to protect sensitive information such as private keys, those public clouds are privately connected to our managed servers located in secured colocation data centers. This allows us to mitigate the risk of compromised key through hardware security modules (HSMs).

An uptime of 99,0182% have already been proven with previous and actual nodes we manage. Our current environment, network infrastructure and security practices are extremely reliable.

Moreover; we have successfully been running and maintaining an IRIS node as a validator since testnet (we were part of the incentivized IRIS testnet and the genesis transaction).

Last but not least, we are committed to bond all the reward to our validator and promote IRISnet to the blockchain francophone community, in a complete transparent and trusted manner.
