Running on the back of a think-tank that is fueled by the intelligence of the masterminds behind KuChain and IRISnet, Ti-Labs will shoulder the responsibility of enlightening the whole Cosmos ecosystem.

On November 6, 2020, the Ti-Labs successfully had its 2nd meeting. The IRISnet and KuChain teams as well as Cosmos developers discussed the development progress such as Cosmos Stargate Upgrade, the “Interoperability” of Ethermint, and also the next move of Ti-Labs.

Details

Part 1. Development Works Discussion

1. Cosmos Stargate upgrade will nearly break every existing exchange, explorer, wallet. Any consideration or preparation for this?

  • IRISnet gives support to the Cosmos China technology community to help them prepare these changes and this upgrade.
  • Have been in close contact with exchanges, wallets and explorers to help them have a general awareness of changes that need to be experienced and addressed.
  • Zaki as well as the iqlusion team make efforts to educate the exchanges, explorers and wallets to well prepare this upgrade. https://stargate.cosmos.network/ https://github.com/cosmosdevs/stargate
  • cosmoshub-stargate-test is actually a simulated upgrade of the Cosmos Hub to Stargate (Cosmos SDK v0.37 → v0.40).
  • BigBang testnet practises upgrading from Cosmos SDK v0.38 & v0.39 to v0.40, which is quite a different scenario to what the Cosmos Hub is doing.
  • Have the option of using the upgrade module depending on whether or not the chain has the upgrade module enabled, it could greatly improve the upgrade path between Cosmos SDK v0.39 and v0.40.
  • New service: cosmovisor, a binary that runs processes in parallel to the Cosmos SDK and can be used to simplify validator devops while doing upgrades or to make syncing a full node for genesis simple. https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/tree/master/cosmovisor

2. Why Ethermint is “Interoperable”

  • IRISnet intends to integrate the Ethermint module into public blockchains and maybe permissioned blockchains.
  • Ethermint is within the Cosmos SDK that can utilize IBC, so it has access to other networks. As a SDK module,EVM can be interoperable with the other SDK modules; can have custom features of EVM that utilizes other features of the Hub SDK.
  • The curve for keys are compatible with Ethereum; beyond the key, all the development tools that are built for Ethereum are usable on Ethermint, so development tools like Truffle, Metamask, Remix are all interoperable. https://github.com/cosmos/ethermint

3. Upgrade module Bug Fix PR

4. KuChain Whitepaper Review

5. The Progress of IRISnet & KuChain

  • IRISnet’s testnet Bifrost has launched Phase-1, testing NFT, Oracle, Record and other modules with incentivized tasks.
  • KuChain weekly updates details into google doc.

6. IEEE Standards

Part 2. Ti-Labs Next Move

  1. Ti-Labs Tech Advisor/Committee
  • Regarding Cosmos SDK-based projects that cannot easily get involved in the whole Cosmos ecosystem, Discord #unifi DAOs channel is a good place to join.
  • Regarding Ti-Labs Tech Advisor/Committee:
-Show support for those build the community good well, e.g. Stakefish: https://medium.com/stakefish/second-cohort-of-grant-fish-431570513c7c
-Invite knowledgeable engineers or experts from projects, e.g. Ethermint, Keplr
-Invite people directly from #unifi DAOs channel, etc.

2. Ti-Labs Research Report

  • Besides meeting memo, Ti-Labs intends to work out technical/research reports with research teams behind both projects.
  • Research like how DEX to deal with IBC access, will be valuable to bring in exchanges’ perspectives.

About IRISnet

IRISnet (a.k.a IRIS Hub) is an Interchain Service Hub designed to support the next generation of distributed applications. Built with Cosmos-SDK, IRIS Hub enables cross-chain interoperability through a unified service model, which supports not only token interchain transfer but also trustworthy data consumption and computation invocation across heterogenous systems. IRIS Hub is the first self evolutionary blockchain launched in the Cosmos ecosystem.

IRISnet dev teams include Bianjie, a national award-winning blockchain technology team based in Shanghai, and Tendermint, the world-famous team that created the Tendermint consensus engine and the Cosmos project.

About KuChain

KuChain is a next generation public chain based on Cosmos-SDK designed to serve decentralized financial applications like DeFi and DEX. KuChain has introduced “four-layer network” technical logic and modular design concepts. It will increase the application scenarios of decentralized finance and complement the ecosystem of Cosmos.
