Hide yo kids, Hide yo wife: it’s project time at Ironhack
It’s project time again at Ironhack for the UX/UI cohort in Miami! That sound you hear…doors closing, people running away from the UX students with all their user surveys and interviews. ‘Tell me about your last doctor’s appointment!’ one student yells. ‘Take my survey about your laundry habits!’ another student slips into the slack channels. There really is no hiding from us, because at Building.co, where Ironhack is housed, all the walls are glass.
I’m kidding, of course. The situation has been quite the contrary. I’ve been amazed at the willingness of the professionals who work at Building.co to stop what they’re doing to help students. They’ll put their own start-ups on hold to sit down for an in-depth interview about anything- from their yoga habits to their Snapchat capabilities. Beyond that, I’ve even had them offer up their loved ones. I’m researching running habits right now and a few separate people have suggested I talk to their marathon-running significant others. The support is definitely appreciated!

The information we are able to gather from surveys and interviews allow us to:
- authentically gain insights about users
- make design decisions based on real data
This week, we will have paper prototypes to test so we will be on the lookout for fresh users! When you feel that tap on your shoulder, when you get that direct message on slack, when you just cant resist a pleading face like the one pictured (who could?), please know, we are so thankful to you!
