Clipping #62: Think God
Telescopes on mountains and in space find more stars in the universe than grains of sand on our planet. Our Milky Way is but one of many galaxies. The universe is still expanding. There are those who don’t find God in this big picture and those who challenge us to stretch our traditional views of God.
Not only is science stretching our understanding of the universe in which we live, neuroscience is stretching our understanding of the brains by which we live. As we engage our environment, our brains assimilate the new data with old memories and worldviews. How we think God informs our brains on how we live. And, there is a difference between what we say and what we think.
How does the way they think God impact how politicians relate to each other, negotiate with each other, plan with each other and support those plans on which they agree? How does the way we think God impact how we relate to one another and what we support? What difference does thinking God or not thinking God make in what we do? Does it make any difference in how big or how small our views of God are?
- To what extent does your view of God shape the way you live?
- What values by which you live are shaped by your view of God?
- How does your view of God shape the way you use your possessions?
- How does your view of God shape the way you vote?
