An extremely boring Deadpool was shown for the first time in 2009 on X-Men Origins Wolverine. This one is the complete opposite. The movie is absolute fun from it’s opening credits scene to it’s final post credits scene. We’ve never had so much fun in a superhero movie before and it is filled with dark, twisted scenes of humour.

Deadpool is a movie about a guy in a red spandex, beating bad guys and switching to flashback mode to tell his origin story. It starts with Wade(Ryan Reynolds), an ex Special Forces guy who is a muscle for hire now. He falls in love with a girl and everything in his life is going in the right direction. Until, he faints and doctors discover he has cancer which cannot be cured and he has just a few days to live. He makes a choice to volunteer for a private research facility which claims that they can cure his cancer. In reality, they mutate people and make them their slaves. Wade mutates to get super fast healing power and calls himself Deadpool.

Deadpool is a refreshing take on Superhero films when we get five to ten superhero movies a year. This one is definitely one of the best Marvel movies I’ve watched. It defies other superhero movies in every possible way. For starters, the movie is not in 3D(Something every movie director wants to go with even though it does not add any real value). Also, the movie has too many references to other superhero franchises and films. At one point, he even pokes fun at a DC character he previously played, Green Lantern.

The dialogues are razor sharp and crispy. They are vulgar, perverse and offensive which makes the movie awesome. This got the movie an ‘A’ certificate(The first superhero film in India to get that!). The certification was not good enough though. They had to make a few cuts and a lot of mutes to please the Indian Rating Committee to let them release the film. Heck, at least it is releasing in India. The movie has been declared too violent and banned in China! The general marketing for this film before it was released was really good.

Along with Deadpool, the movie has a couple more superheroes Colossus (The CGI guy voiced by Stefan Kapicic) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead(The girl who is texting, by Brianna Hidelbrand) who are a part of the X-Men team. They are here to help Deadpool out, along with their own agenda: To convince him to become a part of X-Men. Ed Skrien plays the villain Ajax, who is backed by Angel Dust played by Gina Carano who are mutants themselves. The movie is really short to fully develop their characters, but their performances were good enough for the film.

Deadpool is the first movie from director Tim Miller who has done a really good job of bringing this comic book hero to life. This is probably the closest adaptation to the comic for a superhero film. The actors were also really good. Deadpool is a low budget film(compared to the obscene amount of money Marvel has spent on each one of their previous films) and there was not much expectations to the film. But after watching it, the producers green-lit a sequel even before the actual release.

The movie is filled with insane, graphical and bloody violence which are absolutely stunning(At least the ones our ‘Rating Committee’ felt were OK to watch). The visual effects were good enough to keep you on the edge of your seat(Or grossed out!).

There is not much to the story. Like every other origin story, there is the good guy who goes through a tough time, becomes a superhero and gets his revenge. But this movie is exceptionally fun to watch. Do not watch the film if you get easily offended(Or if you are a kid. If you’re a kid, you’re just not allowed). This is not for you. Everyone else, have a good time watching the film. Also, it’s OK if you’ve never watched post credits scene for any movie before. But if you miss the post credits scene of this film, it is a crime! The post credits scene alone in this film is worth the money you paid!
