Get the most through I’tikaf during these last ten nights of Ramadan
Obtain the blessings of Laylatul Qadr (The blessed night whose power is equivalent to the prayer of 1,000 months or 83.333333333333333 years!)
Hi,
I hope all of you are doing good by the grace of the Almighty. And for those fasting this holy month of Ramadan, I hope their fasts are going great. With just a few more days left behind, this month will be long gone before it returns about 10–12 days earlier [since Muslims follow the lunar calendar and the lunar months are shorter (at just 29–30 days) than the regular ones]!
I have been fasting since the age of six years despite my parents not agreeing to it. But I have been adamant since my childhood and still am! 😊 I have always wondered as a layman and later as a biomedical scientist what is it about Ramadan? It inspires billions of Muslims to adapt to the rigorous fasting schedule during the day. And remaining awake at night in sincere prayer and repentance.
I have always felt more than the physical refraining from food, water, and sex, it is the emotional refraining from lying, backbiting, slandering, etc. that helps in the rewiring of the entire human body, especially the heart. This fasting during one’s life every year for one month along with the Friday (Juma’ah) sermon is like a reiteration of the simple message of Islam helping strengthen the body, mind, soul, and heart.
Along with this big pillar of Islam, there is another pillar called Zakat (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zakat) that I hope every eligible Muslim follows rigorously without fail. I sincerely pray to Allah for proper guidance and wisdom in dealing with one another nicely. Aameen.
