Decompress

I wish I had more time to decompress
and rid myself of the urgency of life
that constantly pressures us to perform
as technologically savvy human

Maybe just a singular morning without
an alert or surreptitious advertisement
begging me to look at something
that I already bought two weeks ago

It’s probably me though, and how I
have been trained by the algorithm
to expect rewards for scrolling
and ignoring myself in favor of it

But this doesn’t change the fact
that I need some time to decompress
from the constant barrage of immediacy
so I can find a vestige of self again
