Reality Takes Forever

There’s a lip of imperfection
in everything that we do
making it so obvious that
reality takes forever

Our constant need to get
it right and properly prepare
leaves us wallowing in
the reality of forever

Calendar days fall to the ground
as the wind blows past us
The sun sets and rises
and we do it all over again

Reality takes forever
because it’s a constant
cyclical evolution of the
content of our lives

The sliding doors theory
is real because one new move
on the chessboard of life
can set off new consequences

The way you blinked twice
That time you took a new route
The car that pumped its brakes
and the reality of your footsteps

We have no control over control
and the more we realize that,
the easier it will be to confirm that
reality takes forever
