F ’n’ A! My Crazy Life in Rock and Blues is the autobiography of Grammy-Nominated Rick Allen and his life as a rock and blues musician. Originally from Los Angeles, Rick is an organist and pianist who started from the bottom of the music industry and climbed his way up. F ’n’ A! My Crazy Life in Rock and Blues follows Rick’s life as he pursued his passion for music. He has worked with Allen Toussaint, Dr. John, The Dukes of Dixieland, Etta James, and many other local and national stars. In the book, Rick reveals many life-changing moments, from spending a night in jail to playing onstage at Madison Square Garden. At a young age, he watched his grandmother play the piano; this is what sparked his pursuit for a musical career. His grandmother, and then later on his wife, Anne, were strong sources of inspiration as he suffered through downhill battles and played spectacular venues. After relocating to the New Orleans area in the ’80s, Allen continued to work in blues clubs and recorded with performers, such as King Floyd, Marcia Ball, and Freddy Fender. In 2000, he was nominated for a Grammy with The Dukes of Dixieland for their work on the album, Gloryland.
