Campus group recognizes disability awareness all year long

Anna Marie Carver, an ISU senior, presents on hearing loss at a disability awareness event in Normal Hall on March 28. Carver is hard of hearing and has organized the Alliance for Disability Awareness on campus.

March is Disability Awareness Month. But Anna Marie Carver, a senior at Indiana State University, is concerned with issues impacting disabled people every day, all year long. She founded Alliance for Disability Awareness (ADA) on campus in hopes of bringing awareness and advocacy for people who deal with disabilities on a daily basis.

“Only about 12 people are currently involved, but I hope the group will continue to grow and thrive once I am graduated from State,” Carver said.

After Carver graduates, the current secretary, Amelea Cuevas, will take over leadership. For more information about the group, please contact Cuevas at acuevas5@sycamores.indstate.edu.
