One of the most important tasks of any project manager is the resource assignment per project, so a good estimation is critical to get a clear vision of our projects and the scopes. Also, the justification of the resources used for the project is important in the BRM framework.

Maybe a poor resource assignment is the main reason to fail for the projects, so for this step, we will need the help of skilled people that have worked in similar projects before. Meanwhile, our negotiation skill will be useful to get accurate schedules and scopes from our team members.

During the planning phase we should look for the viability and capability of our projects, in that case, the iterations in this process will enable us to simulate various scenarios where the risks will be visible when our project has lack of resources. To consider the balance between budget and resources during this phase, otherwise, we will get resources to expensive to justify towards our decision-takers.

Along the project lifecycle, we should be flexible enough to change the assignment as soon as the projects require so. Hence, the key is monitor our project resources and know the tasks where they are working on. We should remember that every important optimization to take should be based on data gathered of the project.
