The success of the project is tied to the success of the team, so the leadership skill is the soul of the project manager and for any leader the experience, skills and knowledge are all. Additionally, to be well equipped against any challenge, there should be a leadership development culture within the company¹.

The art of negotiation can be significantly powerful in our leadership role, because of we will be negotiating resources, budget and deadlines, so our influences to resolve the tradeoffs will become in handy. Also, the conflicts are common in the projects and we should be always the first person to attend them.

Our relationship with the customers is something to improve everyday and the communication is key to deliver exactly (or better) the project outcomes expected from us. Also, the main target for the product is get the market faster and a good leader is essential to reach the goals on time.

Speaking about the benefits for our career, no doubt the soft-skills as leadership are well-appreciated on the market due the complicate process to develop them. The companies producing leaders for challenging projects as culture and our will to demonstrate interpersonal and leadership skills make us capable of leading large teams.

Keeping innovation in our processes and motivate the teams to achieve such goals should be our focus through the project lifecycle and always be compromised to do our best performance.
