Lupe Fiasco is one of my favorite rappers. His music is great, despite the criticism from many that it is too political. He chooses to go the non commercial route and talk about topics that are important in society. He is often forgotten about when people talk about contemporary storytellers such as J.Cole and Kendrick Lamar.

His mixtape, Friend of the People: I Fight Evil, came out in 2011. On this mixtape he discusses Occupy Wall Street, which he was actively involved in. He also talks about people getting robbed and being able to do absolutely nothing about it. These in addition to other issues are topics throughout the album. He also used a lot of beats from EDM tracks. Rapping over bass music was not nearly as commonplace in 2011 as it is now.

This was easily my favorite song on the mixtape.
