Worlds Remixed: Album Review
Just for reference I put up this album review on October 2nd the Day Worlds Remixed was released. However, it was not on my page so I moved it. Enjoy the blog and most importantly the album!
About a month ago I saw Porter Robinson’s post on Instagram that he would be releasing a remix album. I was ecstatic when I saw this, because Worlds was one of, if not, my favorite album of 2014. It is safe to say listening to Worlds Remixed today, did not disappoint.
Worlds Remixed is one of those albums, where every song is a quality track. However, a few stood out from the rest. The first I noticed was the very first song on the album, Divinity (feat. Amy Millan) [ODESZA Remix]. I was very thrown off when I first heard this song, because I expected it to open with the same epic vocal chops as the original. However, it did not and I loved it all the same. This track had typical ODESZA features including vocal chops and an airy feel.
Sea of Voices (Galimatias Remix) is another song that has an airy feel at times. This is no surprise to anyone who has heard the original song, which featuring bells and at only 64 BPM, feels out of time and ethereal. The remix by Galimatias starts off with drums and piano in the introduction, and to be honest it sounds almost elegant. However, the song flips and turns on the listener into future bass. I can keep talking about this amazing song. The thing is I do not think I can describe it much better than this Soundcloud user did.
The last song I have to highlight is this album is Flicker (Mat Zo Remix). This song is my favorite. Mat Zo draws from his drum and bass roots and adds elements of the subgenre to the track. The song is so good it does not matter I do not understand a word of the lyrics. I’m not the biggest fan of drum and bass, but I can not help dancing in my car every time I hear it.
So go and checkout Worlds Remixed by Porter Robinson. It is definitely worth it. The link to buy the album is below.
