Why Is A Managed Cloud Needed?

Nowadays, practically all companies around the world have some degree of progress in their exploration projects of adoption of the public cloud. Behind this is the search for important benefits for the operations of IT, which mostly aims to have greater flexibility, speed, and innovation, without losing even a single bit of control or work efficiency. However, these promises are not fulfilled by themselves: the cloud only eliminates data center management and physical infrastructure; everything else must be managed.

Many times in the companies there is not a complete understanding of what is required to operate in the public cloud and it is thought that their administration is part of the contracting of infrastructure to traditional service providers. However, this is not correct, since it is not a managed platform, but one that must be managed by the client. The adoption of the public cloud requires redesigning the way in which IT solutions are architected and establishing new management and operations processes that demand very little specialised knowledge in the market.

As a result of this, there has been a strong tendency for companies to hire managed service providers to accelerate the transition to the public cloud and obtain the expected benefits. So much so, that industry analysts such as Gartner have incorporated a new category in their analyses and studies for providers of managed services on the public cloud.

Anticipating this trend, there are experts who have been developing a managed services platform for the public cloud. As part of this offer, they have a catalogue of services, which considers all that is required to get the best out of these new technologies, through:

- Optimisation of the design of the solutions, to adopt the new functionalities that the cloud offers, to strengthen the security and to accelerate the obtaining of the benefits (“cloudify” the architecture).

• -Implementation of an operations model, based on specialised knowledge and tools optimised for the public cloud that takes charge of usual activities of IT administration, such as:

 Security administration.

 Backup and recovery.

 Monitoring

 Updates

• -Implementation of an IT management service, which supports the ITIL processes (service desk, incident and problem management, service request management, change management and administration of service levels).

There are different cloud works services that are delivering services to their customers to make their work easier. They have tested and tuned their services in different clients that operate SAP in a public cloud, most of them have their productive environments there. In addition, they conduct concept tests with clients, which we hope will be added to these services.
