Private Key and App Authentication

Hello everyone, this is Gil Asung from ITAM Network.

Continuing from the last post on registration, I will expand further on the difficulties faced with applying blockchain services in this post.

Problem of Private Key Registration

Let’s assume user A is really into a mobile game called ‘Blue Dawn.’ As he is enjoying the game, he comes to an extremely difficult level where even after days of effort, he cannot clear the stage. Therefore, he decides to go on a game community and search for other people’s strategies. Upon reading another user’s post on their strategy, A is finally able to beat the level. Thankful for the help, A decides to send the writer 100 of the ITAM Tokens he recently acquired by selling an item. Just then, A remembers that he needs to register the Private Key of his EOS account. Because of the hefty sum of EOS and other tokens he possesses on his account, A decides to not enter his Private Key.

ITAM App Authentication

Entering in your Private Key is one of the biggest barriers to entry in blockchain services. This is why apps such as Scatter and MetaMask, where you can authenticate several services that requires private keys, have arisen.

We are also working on an ITAM App that can authenticate on the games on the ITAM Platform, communities, etc. The user registers their Private Key onto the ITAM App, and the registered key is safely saved on the ‘Local Trust Zone.’ Furthermore, 2-channel authentication, fingerprint recognition, and other methods could be used for even more security. In a situation like above where user A would like to send ITAM Tokens to someone, he would send an approval notification to the ITAM App, and then the user must approve for the ITAM Token to be transferred.

Unpopularized Blockchain

A problem that’s greater than Private Keys, as mentioned in the previous post, is that there are users that don’t know about blockchain. There are too many factors that these users have to study in order to play a single game.

If blockchain were to be popularized and majority of people know of blockchain, then there wouldn’t be a problem. However, the number of people who currently use blockchain is extremely low. Especially in the case of EOS, the total number of accounts is about 300,000, and the number of people who use the authentication-app ‘Scatter’ is merely 30,000. If we were to make it so that you can’t use the ITAM services if you don’t link your EOS account, then we would have major problems in our service operations.

Thus, we have made it so that if you do not have an EOS account or do not wish to enter your Private key when you register onto ITAM, then the centralized ITAM account will record the data onto the block for you. This also means that the ITAM Tokens will be kept on a central account. It is a hybrid system much like what the central exchanges currently use.

Conclusion

There are still many limitations in blockchain technology. We’ve actually been debating if all of the data in the ITAM game that we’re developing called “Blue Dawn” will be able to operate on the blockchain. And the conclusion that we’ve come to is instead of putting every data onto blocks, we will only register and support the transaction of digital assets that are rare and above a certain level of rating. I will cover more on this in our next post on ITAM DADEX (Digital Asset Decentralized Exchange) and community.

In addition, there are numerous other factors that needs to be considered before launching a service. DAPP developers other than us are also probably having various concerns. We would like to share more ideas with these people.
