How to create a Matic wallet on Polygon blockchain?

MATIC is the main token of the Polygon network, an L2 scaling solution for Ethereum. The Polygon network is designed to provide faster and cheaper Ethereum transactions using secure L2 solutions and autonomous sidechains.

Using the keys from the Ethereum wallet, you can use both tokens on the ether blockchain and on the polygon blockchain.

Matic is the main token in the polygon network, just as ether is the main token in the ether network. Without the MATIC token, you will not be able to perform operations on the polygon network.

STEP 1

To create your own wallet on Polygon blockchain, go to https://metamask.io/ and click on the “Download now” button.

STEP 2

Click on the blue button “Install MetaMask for Firefox”.
If you are using a different browser, the label will be different. For example “Install MetaMask for Chrome”.

STEP 3

A new tab will open with the plugin added to your browser. Click on “Add to Firefox”

STEP 4

After installing the plugin in the browser. A new tab will open for you. Click “Get Started”.

STEP 5

Next, select “create wallet”

Create a password

We recommend watching a video about “recovery phrase” for the safety of your funds.

STEP 8

Save the 12-word phrase so you can quickly regain access to your wallet. Don’t share this data with anyone!

STEP 9

Let’s configure MetaMask to connect to the Matic Network.

Switch the connected blockchain by clicking the tab labeled Main Ethereum Network, we need to add the Matic network. Scroll down until you find Custom RPC.
