Do not let the gimmicky title fool you. This book is anything but a book for beginners. It is packed with factoids, Trader Joe & steam-punk type illustrations, bibliographic data of various historical figures significant to Einsteins time, information about Einstein’s family, and Einsteins himself as well as his accomplishments and politics.

That was quite the mouthful.

This will more than likely be broken up into multiple parts as I cover different aspects of the book itself. The book lends itself nicely to be shared in this way as it follows a linear progression.

The first part discusses the time period leading up to the Einsteins settling in Germany and Albert Einstein’s eventual birth and childhood. Plenty of historical changes were taking place such as electrification, a growing chemical industry, industrialization, and imperialism. It was also the rise of modern capitalism and militant socialism.

The next article will focus on the historical period the Einsteins lived under, Albert Einstein’s upbringing, and the obstacles he overcame in this wondrous, yet authoritarian, age he found himself in.
