The Thom Hartmann Show

I enjoy occasionally listening to Thom Hartmann. I do not agree with everything he says, even in this video, but I agree with most of it. Both Thom and the caller prove these economic definitions have a lot of room to play with. There is no black and white answer to the problems of life. It takes constant effort, deliberation, consensus, and compromise to make civilization work for the greatest number of people.

Anyone who tries to reduce these complex problems to simple metaphors and analogies, talks in absolutes, or who attempts to sell some magic cure-all socioeconomic philosophy is not engaging in an actual productive dialogue and is probably a waste of time. Fortunately, that is not what has happened here, and the caller did seem to come around towards the end. But the show ran out of time.
