It’s all about Wordpress

On Saturday, July 15th I attended an interesting meetup. The WordPress Meetup. I have had my fair experience of WordPress CMS (Content Management System). It is undoubtedly one of the most powerful CMS available there. But, according to me the power is not because of the system. It stands at the top for two main reason.

The Community

So, in this particular meetup we were introduced to JetPack which is a plugin that adds a lot of functionality to WordPress sites. And thats when I realised that the strongest part of WordPress is its strong and dedicated open source developer community.

The ability that anyone can create plugins and add-ons for other to use is like some open software market for buyers and sellers.

I believe a happy developer community is way to mass market success

The flexibility

Another important factor to note is that WordPress websites are complicated at the backend but the front end is so simple that a person without any experience could easily build their own blog, website or even e-commerce. And with added extensive plugins like JetPack its just a delight to use WordPress.

Meetup

Omkar Bhagat has to named as the star of the meet. It was not only us, but also a lot of other people who attended the meetup because they knew him. Meeting him and other people like Alex and others was just a delight.

It was exciting. But there was one thing to take away from the whole meet. It was Omkar’s quote…

If you do something for long enough, you will eventually get better at it!

And thats something his career stands to prove.
