Nationally and globally, November has ushered in feelings of storms a-brewing. The dark clouds hanging overhead may blow over or they could land as Category 1 storms, rather than the Category 5 hurricanes their existence implies.

However, many of us are experiencing an unsettling doom lurking in the corners of our lives. The history nerds and political scientists among us, especially, understand the potential implications and the adverse consequences these implications could bring.

Along with delightful personal situations, the events of the past few weeks haven’t ushered in an overwhelming sense of joy and hope for the collective future. I’m not the biggest fan of November 2024. I find myself wondering if the zombie apocalypse will begin next year, or if it will remain dormant until 2026.

However, November has also smacked me in the face with an important reminder-– regardless of what occurs, we still have to live. If we sit in the thick of desperation and gloom and give up, we fail to do so. Gallows humor is my superpower, and I intend to use it liberally in the best and worst of times.
