One True Loves is a monogamous love story with a better view of polyamory than any film about polyamory. While other movies approach the topic of open relationships as doomed, salacious, and impossible, One True Loves makes some room for the possibility of multiamory.

As a result, it gives a beautiful example of what healthy monogamy looks like.

Adapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid’s book, the film ventures into the realm of romantic comedy. However, it’s not your typical rom-com. The film skillfully weaves a humorous narrative with a story of loss and grief, creating a unique blend that keeps the audience engaged.

To describe One True Loves, imagine expanding the ending of Cast Away (2000, Robert Zemeckis) and revisiting the grief of Under The Sand (2000, François Ozon), but make it funny! And voila! One True Loves is born.
