Film: Sometimes I Think About Dying. Year: 2023. Genre: Comedy/Drama/Romance. Director: Rachel Lambert

While some people shiver at the thought of dying, others contemplate death and the afterlife. This can lead to people living their lives to the fullest or dragging themselves through life. The latter is undoubtedly the case for Fran, the central character in Sometimes I Think About Dying, the latest feature by director Rachel Lambert (I Can Feel You Walking, In the Radiant City). According to the outside world, her life is bleak and uninteresting, but her inner self is much more fascinating than one might think. But will Fran allow her coworkers and the people around her to get to know her authentic self?

If she (Daisy Ridley) keeps up her daily habits, then probably not. While Fran certainly thinks a lot, especially about dying, she doesn’t say much (to say the least). As an introvert who sometimes goes entire workdays without opening her mouth, her life consists of repetitions, routines and… cottage cheese. She doesn’t utter a word until the 22-minute mark in this feature, and even then, it’s not like she’s having an in-depth and prolonged conversation. Her more extroverted and bubbly colleagues can’t pull her out…
