For the first time ever, today, I cold-emailed—both a person and a company.

For the longest time ever I thought it’d never work. What on earth would make it work?

But today, I tried—well, one out of necessity and the other out of sheer curiosity.

How this metaverse and blockchain company came into the scene?

So I was writing this article about Asia’s first metaverse wedding and had submitted it to Technology Hits for publication.

I didn’t know a lot about this ‘copyright’ thing (not to say I know a lot about it now) and one of the awesome editor of the publication, Zen Chan, guided me with a link to an article about the same.

After reading, I decided to give it a go: writing a cold email for probably the first time.

Thanks Zen. I’ll take care of these things from now on. Screenshot by me.

Now To Ankur Warikoo

Ankur Warikoo is one of my favourite creators on YouTube. He regularly creates video on finance, self-help, entrepreneurship, and books and courses.

A couple of days ago his new video dropped on YouTube: 4 Powerful Ways to Calmly Resolve Disagreements.” I loved it.

I wanted to summarise this video and write a Medium post on it. So I cold-emailed him. (I first heard this word from him only; he talks about it a lot.)

ARTICLE COMING SOON... (update: READ THAT PIECE HERE)

There is however a summary of one of his podcast episodes that I wrote back in August 2021. You can read it here: My 9 Key Takeaways from Ankur Warikoo’s Podcast: Alice With Warikoo: 39 Life Lessons. Did I Interpret It Right as a 15-year-old?

How did it all go???

I can’t believe it!

I got a reply from both of them within 24 hours. 🤯

Cold-emailing freaking works!!!

A short and sweet reply :))) (screenshot by me)

It did work out. And now I know the power of simply asking.

Ask ‘cause no one’s standing out there able to read your mind. Ask and maybe, and it’s most likely that, they will help you.

Thanks for reading SERENDIPITY. Continue your serendipitous exploration with this article (hint: writers, you’ll love this) or this article (book lovers, you’re going to enjoy it). Bye! ❤️👋
