Bloomington Coffee, you have my HEART!
My love affair with coffee dates back to high school! Whether it was leaving extra early to hit Starbucks or setting up shop at a local spot to study, coffee was always a priority.
Coming to IU, you bet I made it a mission to find allll the best shops to get my cold brew fix. Last year especially, my friends and I would make Sundays our day to go try a new coffee spot. It’s safe to say that I’ve tried drinks all over Bloomington and have narrowed it down to some of my favorites!
- Hopscotch
My order: Cold Brew with a splash of oat or coconut milk (depends on the day) and sometimes a hint of maple!
Hopscotch is my number one pick! (for now :) There are two locations in Bloomington but I tend to frequent the one near the B-Line Trail. Their cold brew NEVER disappoints and I love that they offer maple syrup as an add in — a little sweetness for your coffee but not overpowering! Whatever your milk style is, coconut, oat, almond, they’ve got you covered! With indoor and outdoor seating, it makes for a great place to study. I’ve yet to try any of their food but they always seem to have some yummy looking bagels and doughnuts.
2. Soma
My order: Cold Brew with cinnamon powder or macadamia syrup
If you’ve ever set foot in Bloomington, odds are you’ve laid eyes on at least one Soma. They have locations all over town and are definitely a hot spot amongst students. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff could not be nicer! I love taking a Sunday walk to Soma with friends and know that no matter which location I choose, I’ll be happy!
3. Two Sticks
My order: Cold Brew with oat milk (and sometimes a dash of maple)
Known for their out-of-this-world pastries, Two Sticks is a great spot to take family or friends visiting from out of town. But get their early! When they sell out of their goodies, they don’t make any the rest of the day! Cinnamon rolls, scones, quiches, whole cakes — they truly do it ALL. Two Sticks is more of a grab and go kind of set up but you won’t regret stopping in on your morning commute!
