Who doesn’t love fall! Everything starts to look orange and gold. We get to pull out our sweaters and boots. Porches are stacked with yellow and purple mums and pumpkins. Hot pumpkin latte in hand walking under falling red and yellow leaves. Bloomington is no exception to the magic of fall. Here are some things you shouldn’t miss this fall!

On Campus

The IU Bloomington campus is known for it beautiful campus, and every fall campus is filled with lush colorful mums. Enter through the Sample Gates on Indiana Avenue to be met with mums on either side. Follow the brick paths through campus and be sure to wander around Dunn Woods for some truly spectacular fall color! If you get chilly, take a break by the fireplace in the Indiana Memorial Union South Lounge (don’t forget your pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks or Sugar and Spice right there in the IMU!).

If you’re looking for some spooky October fun, visit Dunn Cemetery next to the IMU or see a scary movie at the IU Cinema. If you have a sweet tooth, stop by Chocolate Moose or Hartzels just outside the sample gates for some homemade pumpkin ice cream!

Around Town

Fowler Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze is south of town and offers all the classic fun fall activities like pumpkin picking, a corn maze, hay rides and apple cider.

You can find apple pie wine and special events like candy pairings at Oliver Winery north of town. They often do special fall events on the weekends during September and October!

The City of Bloomington hosts several fun activities during the fall season. One of which is Spooky Movies at Bryan Park. Grab a thermos of hot coco and a warm blanket to sit on while enjoying Halloween classics under the stars. And if you’re in the mood for something a bit crazier put your costumes on and head over to the historic Buskirk-Chumley Theater for an annual showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Pretty much any direction you go from the center of town you can find walking paths, nature preserves, lakes and hiking trails. If you want to soak in some of the natural warm of fall (even though it is getting cold outside) put on your hiking boots and go for a walk at Griffy Lake Nature preserve, Hoosier National Forest, Brown County or the Deam on Lake Monroe! You won’t regret it!
