Happy Holidays from the Visitor Information Center family! We hope your days are merry and bright!

The Bloomington campus is dressed in its annual holiday garlands and red bows. The temperatures are dropping quickly and we are pulling out our scarves and boots; secretly hoping for a quiet snowy day. Students are hunkering down on the final stretch of the Fall semester (good luck everyone! Don’t forget to take a hot cocoa break!). Everyone is eagerly wandering the local shops — stopping in the town square to gaze up at the canopy of lights.

Here are some of my favorite winter memories at IU Bloomington

Snow Days. Does anyone remember the ice storm that came through campus in 2011 and covered everything in a thick layer of shiny ice? I’m sure I wasn’t the only one to slide around taking pictures of the winter wonderland!

The Nutcracker. I have loved watching the Nutcracker Ballet since I was a little girl. The IU Bloomington Musical Arts Center hosts the Nutcracker Ballet every year and it never disappoints! It’s so magical and discounted student pricing is a plus!

Love and magic! I got engaged to my husband at IU on a cold snowy night in the Cox Arboretum Gazebo.

Christmas Morning Brunch! I’m a sucker for brunch, especially Christmas morning! A plate of cookies for breakfast? Yes, please! There is no shortage of great cafes and restaurants in downtown Bloomington that put some extra effort into their holiday desserts and drinks. And of course you can’t forget a hot peppermint mocha latte for your walk to class in the cold winter air.
