Everything Will Be Okay (Alles Wird Gut)

As viewers are getting ready for this year’s 88th Annual Academy Awards, keep an eye out for two familiar short films! This year, two films that were featured in IFF 2015’s Student Selection have been nominated for Oscars. Both are nominated in the Short Film (Live Action) category.

Directed by Henry Hughes, “Day One” is inspired on a true story. The short film depicts a new translator’s first day as she accompanies a US Army unit in Afghanistan in their search for a local terrorist. The day takes an unexpected turn, forcing her into the center of conflicting gender and religious barriers with lives hanging in the balance.

“Everything Will Be Okay (Alles Wird Gut)”, directed by Patrick Vollrath, is a German short film centering around a father and daughter. Divorced father Michael picks up his eight-year-old daughter Lea for their weekend together. While at first it like a normal every second weekend, Lea can’t help feeling something isn’t right, thus beginning a fateful journey for both father and daughter.

IFF wishes both films the best of luck in the 88th Annual Academy Awards! Check out more about these fantastic short films at their websites below:
