Are you a socioholic?

Yes you are but you don’t know :P

I mean isn’t scrolling Instagram feed your way of escaping the exasperation aroused out of office work ? Don’t you spend hours on WhatsApp because all the chit chat with your favorites, lightens you up to take all the responsibilities coming your way ?

Well well, it’s not only you and me whose sanity is driven by our social media handles. It’s home to 3.8 billion users like us checking their accounts daily. While spending a little time is fine, scrolling for hours at the opportunity cost of doing something productive like reading your favorite book or going through informative blogs, is a route to misery.

However, Keen can serve the purpose of social networking along with boosting productivity. Let’s explore the new project rolled out from labs of Google.

How it works ?

Keen from Google’s Area 121 is a web and android based application which lets you curate your interests and share it with your community. It lets you share your collections with other like minded people. You can even follow the existing public keens matching your interests.

For every keen created, Google Search and ML algorithms fetch in the relatable content to soothe your taste. The more you interact, the better the recommendations become.

Keens are the healthy dopamine hits designed for enhancing your productivity by recommending you relatable posts from all over the web. All you have to do is start curating a keen and save intriguing gems or links you come across. Gems are equivalent to like+save button. It is important for you to keep useful resources as gems for getting better recommendations from the app.

Get your keen now

Keens serve the purpose of discovering personalized results and saving useful content to keep track of it. Since, you login through your gmail account, it gives more data to Google for targeting ads. So it’s win-win situation altogether.

YouTube being the second largest search engine with more than 3 billion searches per month, possesses the plethora of quality content whose power can be leveraged to enhance the user experience, by providing direct option to search on it.

Keens hence have the potential to be social media hit considering the value they deliver to the user. Working on the same model of Create-Share-Interact, they can be the new productivity tool.

Keen — where your interests belong

So next time you are in a grocery line, you know what to do. Explore your interests via Keens and have a productive day.
