Applications for the 2020 IxDA Student Design Charette in Milan are underway. We’re proud to be working with our sponsors at Amazon Design. The brief for the challenge is:

How might voice experiences improve the lives of people facing unique challenges? More specifically, how can Alexa better address the needs of the deaf, blind, disabled, or neuro-diverse? We want to hear your ideas for new devices or services that can empower those who may need it the most.

Voice has the potential to address the needs of many audiences underserved by traditional interfaces. How might you leverage a platform like Alexa to create an empowering, accessible, and inclusive experience?

Unlike many student competitions, we have a very robust definition of student. Applications will be accepted from anyone that is currently in or has recently completed one or more of the following:

  • an undergraduate or graduate program
  • relevant intensive courses or bootcamps
  • an apprentice or internship program
  • their first year as an interaction design professional

In short, anyone who is taking the very first steps on their journey as an interaction designer.

The finalists selected from submissions win a free trip to Milan and get to experience Interaction 20. Read up on the brief and apply before the deadline on 16 Dec if you’d like to learn more about designing for empowerment through voice. Join us.
