The world’s smallest “mass” mailing of anti-Ted Cruz propaganda

In a political season swamped with automated robo calls, scripted bots, and mechanical turks, we at IXNAY PAC (a scrappy DIY political organization that has been called a “homebrew” super PAC) decided to do something different: to mail something fun and possibly useful to registered voters. As a way of trying to make sure that people realize how important every single vote is, we’ve reached out with hand-addressed letters to every single registered voter in Warren City, Grand Prairie, Mobile City, Sun Valley, and Dayton Lakes Texas.

Why these municipalities? Because, according to voter data provider, L2, these are the five places in Texas with the lowest number of registered voters–ranging from 4 to 22. As a result, they probably don’t get a lot of candidates passing through their towns, but their votes will still play a crucial part in the outcome of this election.

From the beginning, IXNAY felt a new approach was necessary so our political mailer includes something tangible and believable. We refuse to embrace the false messaging of most political action committees that “a vote for X yields a disastrous Y,” because that kind of bullshit fuzzy math rarely ever changes minds. Instead we collaborated with the political cartoonist Mr. Fish to create a Ted Cruz sticker. Yeah, Ted Cruz. Well, it’s actually Ted holding Trump lovingly in his hand. We don’t want to go to far in describing it because, well… here!

“Shit Shooter” by Mr. Fish for IXNAY PAC

While we’re not associated with political party and/or candidate we do feel Ted Cruz is a bummer for not only Texas but America in general. His accusation that Beto O’Rourke wanted to shutdown the US gov, after he himself made his name by shutting the down the US gov, inspired our creative hand. That plus the toadying up to Trump, which seemed something quite remarkable in light of their past relationship. We thought the attached design would be a great sticker to get into the hands of prospective Reps, Dems, and Indys voters alike. Clearly minds are hard set on partisan issues but laughing and loving art and then sticking stickers on other people’s stuff is a time honored American tradition.

Our hope is that by reaching out, I mean literally reaching out of the blue to this select group of voters, they will be encouraged in an ever so small way to actively engage in their civic duty. The possibility of having a little fun sharing (a sticker) might be just the ticket in overcoming our current national political malaise.

These 60 envelopes full of mirth should start arriving right about now. We’re curious what this highly select group of Texans will think when they open ’em up, see Mr. Fish’s handiwork, and read this enclosed letter from our man Trace Crutchfield

It sounds a bit silly, but it really is true. Peeling the backs off of these stickers and slapping them up all about town does get the dopamine flowing. We hope our 60 new friends in Texas will agree.
